This clock is signed "Christian Hertig, Zytmacher, Lauenen, bey Thun", Switzerland and was made around 1720. It is atypical example of rural clockmaking at the time, wooden movement.

Christian Hertig is a direct anchestor of Hans-Peter Hertig the founder and curator of MUMM . The collection contains clocks made by three generations of Hertig Clockmakes in the 18th and 19th Century.
